Our Projects

At Sunflower Dance, we are proud of the wonderful collaborations we are involved in, working alongside organisations to create opportunities for people to take part in experiences they may not otherwise have access to.

This page highlights some of the exciting projects we are currently working on, as well as past projects that have made a meaningful difference to those that have been involved.

Junction Arts: Chesterfield Children's Festival
School Link Project

Our Brimington club are delighted to be taking part in an exciting project this summer term with Junction Arts, connecting with a school in Ukraine through creativity and dance.

Working alongside dance artist Karla Jones, the children will create a performance piece inspired by the same starting point as the Ukrainian school. Both schools’ work will then be brought together through film, celebrating creativity and collaboration.

As part of this fantastic opportunity, our Brimington children will also have the chance to perform their work live at Chesterfield Children’s Festival on Saturday 18th July.

Active Derbyshire/Active Nottinghamshire
Girl's Active Inspiration Day

We have been proud to work alongside Active Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire for a few years on a variety of girls’ activity days.

These inspiring events give young people the opportunity to take part in a range of physical activities designed to build confidence, encourage movement, and inspire a positive attitude towards being active. We hope the participants leave feeling motivated to take new ideas and experiences back to their schools, helping to break down some of the barriers surrounding physical activity.

The days are always uplifting and rewarding, and we are already looking forward to the next event this summer.

NHS Nottingham Hospital Trust
Arts trail Project

In 2023, we collaborated with Nottingham Hospitals Trust to deliver a series of inclusive dance workshops for hospital staff.

The sessions were designed to bring people together in a fun and welcoming environment, whilst also highlighting the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of dance. The project was documented through film and photography, with the final work becoming part of the hospital’s art trail display.
